Simon Tuomey
MCSP Physiotherapist (BSc Hons)

Simon is originally from Cork, Republic of Ireland and has a background in elite road cycling; competing internationally for a period of 5 years. The highlight of his career was winning the Balearic Island Championships in 2015 – a semi-mountainous race in 30-degree heat – held in Alaró, Mallorca!

Aside from cycling, he is interested in strength training, running, hiking, swimming and rowing. Simon’s cycling experience sparked his interest in biomechanics and the neuromusculoskeletal system so decided to pursue a career in Physiotherapy.

His time in sport and education in health science is a synergistic combination, particularly useful in rehabilitation and MSK.

At present, he is doing his Rotational Physiotherapist role within the Royal Surrey NHS Trust and is very excited to be working with Clinic4Sport to practice in a sport setting alongside other great practitioners.

Quick Fire Questions – Get to know our therapists!

      1. Where is the best place you’ve ever travelled to?
Fowey. Kerry. Snowdonia. Bath. Cork. Dorking. Zakopane. Tuscany. All great outdoorsy places!
      2. Any guilty pleasure?
Pints of milk – full fat. My Nectar app is also indicative of this, with milk being my most bought item in 2020.
      3. Favourite area of the body to treat and why?
The knee. It is one of the most complex joints in the body, with extensive differential diagnoses possible. Treating a knee issue successfully can be difficult and therefore rewarding as a Physiotherapist.
